Cornwall and Devon
Marhamchurch in north Cornwall, is very near the Devon border, Hilton is well situated to discover the delight of both counties. Picturesque villages such as Boscastle, Clovelly, Port Isaac and Tintagel are all within half an hour's drive while Padstow - now famous for Rick Stein's restaurants - and Rock, are not much further.
There are many activities for families. These include The Milky Way, The Big Sheep and Trethorne Leisure Farm.
Bude, The Atlantic Village, Bideford, Barnstaple and Holsworthy, which on Wednesday has a cattle and pannier market are all excellent for shopping. You can also go to Plymouth and Exeter in Devon or the Cornwall capital, Truro, which all have big shopping centres.
There are a number of beautiful Cornish beaches nearby which are ideal for surfing or just chilling out. These are all patrolled by lifeguards during summer and there is a safe natural sea pool at the nearby town of Bude. Also, Newquay is furthur down the coast, which is the home of british surfing. There are many surf schools in the area with whom we can arrange lessons for you.
There are also a number of Steam Railways open to the public, local golf courses, historic villages such as Clovelly village and Hartland Quay which you can visit and many Gardens, including the renowned Eden Project near the south coast of Cornwall. There is also an excellent pub a short walk away from our cottages.
If you enjoy walking there are many awe-inspiring walks in the area: the Cornish Coast path over rugged cliffs; the Bude Canal or trek over Dartmoor or Bodmin Moor! We offer a pick up service once you have finished your walk.
